Roman Chimney Pot
71AD - 410AD
This large pot gives us a taste of the general architecture of Roman York. It is a chimney pot, or a decorative feature, from a Roman roof.
It is in remarkably good condition given that it's at least 1600 years old, just missing a couple of flanges at the base that would have sat beneath the roof tiles to hold it in place.
