View from Station Rise
This iconic view has been a magnet for snappers since the invention of photography. The many images of the same view create a little documentary of more than 150 years of change.
The first images were taken even before Lendal Bridge was built, shortly after the walls were breached for the first railway station.
Most of the images here are from the Imagine York photographic archive and are copyright of City of York Council.
The short film was made by York filmmaker and camera shop owner, May Webb. It comes from the collection of Yorkshire Film Archive.
