Crest of York St John College
In 1953 an application was made, and approved by the College of Heralds for the crest that can still be seen on the clothing of St John’s students today.
The crest has the eagle of Saint John the evangelist on, as well as the crossed keys of the Arch Diocese of York. The motto underneath the crest reads “Ut Vitam Habeant et Abundantius” – that they may have life and have it more abundantly, based on Saint John, chapter 10, in the bible.
